With profound sorrow and heartfelt reverence, we honor the life and legacy of Josh Mauro, a devoted son, brother, uncle, grandson, teammate, and friend whose passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. While grief weighs heavily upon us, we find comfort in the steadfast faith that Josh is now at peace—restored, renewed, and dwelling in the presence of the Lord.
On Thursday, April 23rd, Josh departed this earthly life, taking his first breath in eternity. In this moment of unimaginable loss, his family leans on faith as their source of strength and humbly asks for continued prayers, comfort, and support from all who share in their sorrow.
Josh Mauro was more than an accomplished athlete; he was a man of character, humility, and genuine kindness. A proud graduate of Stanford University, Josh distinguished himself both academically and athletically. As a defensive end in the National Football League, he dedicated eight seasons to the sport he loved, playing for the Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants, and Oakland Raiders. Over the course of 80 career games, he recorded 130 tackles and five sacks, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, discipline, and teamwork.
Yet, beyond the statistics and accolades, Josh will be remembered most for the light he brought into the lives of others. He was a beloved teammate and a trusted friend, someone who uplifted those around him with his warmth, humor, and unwavering spirit. At Stanford, he was not only a force on the field but also a cherished member of the community, known for his role in fostering camaraderie and unity among his peers.
Josh’s impact extended far beyond football. He embodied compassion, integrity, and faith in every aspect of his life. His presence was a gift, and his memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we mourn this profound loss, we also celebrate a life well lived—a life marked by purpose, connection, and love. May his family find solace in cherished memories, and may his legacy endure in the hearts of those he touched.
Rest in peace, Josh. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
