A 2018 graduate of Lowndes County High School, he continued his pursuit of service by earning an Associate Degree in Science in Criminal Justice from Southern New Hampshire University in 2020.
Caleb began his journey in emergency services with Lowndes County Fire and Rescue, where his commitment and work ethic earned him the distinction of Probationary Firefighter of the Year in 2024. He later joined the Hahira Police Department, embracing his role with compassion, integrity, and professionalism. Known for his warm demeanor and natural ability to connect with others, Caleb brought comfort and respect to every interaction, whether in moments of crisis or routine encounters.
On February 19, 2026, Officer Abney made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty at the age of 26. While conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 75 in Lowndes County, Georgia, his patrol vehicle was struck from behind by a high-speed driver, taking his life instantly. His passing is a profound loss to his family, colleagues, and the community he faithfully served.
